Congressman Chuck Edwards was the guest speaker at the Jan. 18 meeting as part of his 15-county tour of Western North Carolina last week. State Sen. Kevin Corbin (Rotary Club of Franklin member) introduced Edwards, who is a member of the Hendersonville Rotary Club.

Edwards spoke about his first few weeks in Washington, D.C. as a freshman representative for North Carolina District 11. He has received three committee assignments, including the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, which he feels will allow him to make the biggest difference here in the district. He will also serve on the House Budget Committee and the Committee on Government Oversight and Accountability.

Edwards said he was known as a “work horse” during his time in the North Carolina Senate, and he is taking that work ethic and experience to D.C.

During the meeting, Edwards announced that Brittney Lofthouse, who is a member of the Rotary Club of Franklin, would serve as his district field representative for the six western counties. Joining Edwards at the meeting were his Chief of Staff Bronwyn Lance and District Director Chris Burns.
