Scholarship recipients
Four of our scholarship recipients were guests at the July 26 meeting. They each shared with us their plans for college and future work.

  • Maitlyn Rewis – Roy Rickman Scholarship 2020, graduated from Western Carolina University.
  • Bryce Rogers – Roy Rickman Scholarship 2021, rising junior at Western Carolina University.
  • Andrea Terrell – Countryside Chevrolet Scholarship 2023, attending Spartanburg Methodist.
  • Callie Roper – Roy Rickman Scholarship 2023, attending UNC-Chapel Hill in the fall.

Scholarship Chair Susie Ledford provided updates on students who could not attend the meeting.

  • Muhammad Patel – Roy Rickman Scholarship 2022, rising junior at UNC-Chapel Hill.
  • Reese Ward – 2023 recipient, attending UNC-Chapel Hill in the fall.
  • Bo Kinsland – David Hill Scholarship 2023, attending NC State in the fall.
  • Callie Barnett – Roy Rickman Scholarship 2023, attending Appalachian State in the fall.

CareNET
With school starting back, we will resume packing backpacks for CareNet on the second Thursday of each month at 4:30 p.m. First workday: Sept. 14. Meet at the warehouse on Bidwell Street.

Habitat for Humanity
Volunteers are needed to help paint at Habitat for Humanity house on Aug. 12. Contact Guy Gooder for details, 828-421-4845.
