Julie Adams from Together We Can was the guest speaker for the June 7 meeting. She shared information about the nonprofit, how they help foster care families and their goal to establish a transitional house for children until they are placed in a foster home.

According to Julie, there are 80 kids in Macon County in the foster system and 25 licensed foster families. In 2022, 13 children were reunified with their families and 13 were adopted. Julie said volunteers are needed to serve as guardians ad litem.

Together We Can has three fundraisers coming up: a volleyball tournament on June 17, a gala on Sept. 16 and a benefit presented by the Rotary Daybreak club on Nov. 4. They have raised $150,000 toward their $250,000 goal.
